Why Choose Us?

Having spent our childhoods in and around Royal Deeside when we saw our home at Bridge Cottage in Dess, near Aboyne in 2015 we immediately fell in love with the garden and Colin new this was the perfect place to fulfil his dream of beekeeping.  Our passion for the area has grown with our love of the community spirit and coming together with other small local businesses and stall holders and local markets.

We initially started to sell honey from our doorstep but one hive turned into two and then the opportunity of offering a service to local beekeepers arose selling equipment and extracting and jarring honey and so Colin built the first Bee Cabin in March 2017 as a workshop & shop however Fiona's passion for growing fruit and veg turned produce into Jam's & Chutneys before being approached for Beeswax Food Wraps and realising this created zero waste after extracting our honey other bi-products got produced such as our skincare range from paw wax to hand balm.

Our Royal Deeside Heather Honey is created by our bees in the romantic rolling hills in Ballater. Taken straight from honeycomb and jarred from July/August we have Bell Heather Honey and a little later in the year the best is saved for last as the bees work very hard to collect the Ling Heather to produce Scotland's finest and purest heather honey.

We take great pride in our ethos believing in zero waste, eco friendly, recyclable, biodegradable products (we welcome the return of glass jars). We want you, the customer to enjoy your experience shopping with us and learning to understand the importance of bees in the world.  Our hand crafted wildflower bee bombs and beeswax food wraps are as lovingly produced as our delicious honey.

We currently offer click and collect during the Winter shop closure in  between November until March.  However, we will do our best to help with any other enquiries by e-mail however please appreciate there may be a slight delay.

I met the Bee Cabin team in August and was bowled over by the kindness and enthusiasm as they spoke about their products. Not only is their honey (dangerously) delicious 🤤 but their beeswax wraps are exactly what I’ve been looking for and more. Tried and tested, I’m definitely getting more for my kitchen, and they look absolutely fab too! You can tell they’re made with ❤️
